One Year’s Uptime
I just noticed that I’ve tipped one year’s worth of uptime on omicron.
Woo yeah!

I’m on my second ThinkPad now. Last year I replaced my failing T42 with a T60. Both had/have ThinkLights, but I’ve never seen the point in them before…
Right now though, sitting in the garden at night, I finally see the point (I can see my keyboard!!!). Mind you, it’s irrelevant how well lit my laptop [...]
I’ve started using a wiki to hold random notes/guides/etc that I’ve made. It’s publicly accessible but not publicly editable. I’ve decided to put it online on the off chance that the information is useful to someone else (hey, it’s useful to me…). There’s not much there at the moment, but I’ll be updating it as [...]
Also taggedI finally got around to fixing my wiki today. I broke it a while ago while upgrading mediawiki and I hadn’t found the time to sort it out until now. I restored the database from a backup, installed mediawiki 1.6.9 from scratch, then upgraded to 1.8.3. Successfully this time. Woo yeah for fixing things.

Also tagged Real LifeI have moved the hosting of charcourt.com over to omicron. I no longer need the hosting at 34sp.com since I have my own server. There’s nothing wrong with 34sp, in fact I would recommend them if anyone is looking for low cost hosting.
I’ve also taken the opportunity to change themes on the blog. The new [...]
I have begun to use a (private) wiki as a place to put information that I gather as I progress with my research project. It’s a nice way of quickly adding information in a stuctured manner and having a history is nice for tracking how the project is progressing and I think it will come [...]
Also tagged Real Life, SoftwareSo, I decided I would start keeping a personal blog, in addition to the random crap that I post on bfish. I’m not entirely sure what will end up on here, but probably whatever I’m occupied with at the time… Also, wordpress rocks for generally publishing on the web anyway.
